After the spray paint film dries, many irregular protrusions appear on the surface of the coating. What is the reason for this?
It is necessary to pay attention to the leveling of the paint. This kind of ripple is commonly known as "orange peel", and most of the reasons are caused by the poor leveling of the paint. Poor leveling is caused by various factors such as the coating itself and improper construction.
In order to prevent the occurrence of orange peel, attention should be paid to:
01
The bottom layer needs to be treated well, and a sealer will help with leveling. In addition, the surface should be fully polished and smoothed to a certain degree of smoothness in order to ensure that the paint is fully wetted.
02
The viscosity should not be too viscous when spraying, and it can be adjusted appropriately according to the area and shape of the painted furniture.
03
When spraying, the air pressure and spray gun distance should be appropriate. High air pressure, close spray gun distance or low air pressure, and long spray gun distance will cause poor leveling.
04
After spraying, the surface drying should not be too fast, the ambient temperature should not be too high (the best around 25 ℃), and the drying should not be carried out immediately after spraying.
05
After spraying, there must be a certain leveling time. In addition to maintaining a suitable temperature in the drying room, the wind speed in the drying room should not be too large, otherwise it will accelerate the volatilization of the solvent and shorten the leveling time of the paint.
06
To ensure the leveling after spraying, it is also necessary to ensure that each coating has a certain thickness, and it cannot be too thin. It is recommended that the thickness of each dry film coating be controlled at about 25~30 microns.
07
Influenced by other factors, such as the high content of low-boiling solvent in the coating, during construction, the solvent volatilizes too quickly, and the film-forming substance does not have time to level and form orange peel. In this case, the method of adding more diluents or adding some high-boiling point solvents can be adopted to prevent the occurrence of orange peel. In addition, the paint itself has poor miscibility with curing agent or thinner, and orange peel phenomenon will also occur. Therefore, matching curing agent and thinner must be used.
