1. Decontamination
Grease, glue stains, dust, sawdust and dirt left on the wood surface will seriously affect the uniform coloring, curing and adhesion of the paint film.
Use an air compressor or a bristle brush to clean the dust and sawdust on the surface of the wood, and then use hot soapy water or alkaline water to remove the grease and glue stains on the surface of the substrate. After the wood is dry, use sandpaper to sand along the wood grain.
2. Deburring
Water-based wood lacquer is diluted with water and then brushed. When the wood encounters water, wood grain protrusions, particles, and burrs will appear, which will make the surface rough and uneven, resulting in uneven coloring.
The burrs can be removed by first moistening, then drying, and then grinding. Be careful not to use too much force when grinding, so as to avoid new wood thorns and burrs.
3. Degreasing
Residual grease on the substrate must be removed before applying water-based wood paint, otherwise there will be problems such as poor curing of the paint film, reduced adhesion and uneven painting.
Using solvent wiping or lye cleaning can remove the grease on the wood, but one thing to pay attention to, the solvent is toxic and the safety hazard is great.
4. Surface repair putty
Defects such as nail holes, bug holes, and pits on the wood should be repaired and filled to reduce the surface roughness and increase the smoothness to obtain a plump, thick and shiny surface paint film.
